Discord integration

2021-01-04 23:52:44 - By soh

New Discord integration features are now available on the JEDI Discord server!

Login with Discord: you can link your Discord and RPMod accounts from your My Profile page, and use the Discord login button instead of usual credentials on RPMod Web. Only your Discord user ID will be stored (no personal information).

RPMod commands: when typing / in the Discord message box, you should see the following:

  • /rpgivexp: give XP to an account, like in game (Knights+)
  • /rpmap: change server map (currently, Council only)
  • /rprcon: execute server commands for remote admin (Council only)
  • /rpsetaccount: update account fields like modelScale (Council only)
  • /rptracker: show server status, including current map and players (everybody)

Responses will be displayed in the channel where the command is executed. When asked for a server name, you can just type a part of its name, like "temple" or "galaxy". Any command will first require you to link your Discord and RPMod accounts, as mentioned above.

Webhooks: notifications for XP grants and Game Asset deployment requests are published in a #rpmod-notifications channel in real time.

Feel free to suggest additional features to improve this integration!

Mobile web site now available

2020-01-07 21:17:57 - By soh

To facilitate the use of RPMod Web on the go, a mobile-friendly version is now available and will be automatically enabled on eligible devices. This lets you check character details, view server status or deploy game assets more easily from your phone, for example.

As with all new features, feedback is welcome! Should you need it, a link remains available at the bottom of the site to quickly switch between the desktop and mobile versions.

RPMod 0.5.1 Client released!

2018-02-03 17:58:37 - By soh

Greetings JEDI and Community,

It has been quite some time since the 0.5.0 release (March 2, 2014), but after more than 10 years of existence, RPMod is still alive! Here comes a new update:

RPMod 0.5.1

JEDI servers have already been updated, but on your side you will also need to install the RPMod Client to benefit from improvements, new features, enhanced effects, bug fixes, improved user interface, etc.

If you already have RPMod 0.5.0 installed, the RPMod Launcher will perform this update automatically for you. Otherwise, please follow the instructions below.

Release notes:

  • This is a minor version that brings a few bug fixes, improvements and new features, such as new "Physical Fitness" and "Force Attunement" powers, player settings sync (name, model, sabers, etc.), solid /rpmodel, new /rplock command, NPC holograms, and widescreen/high resolution support. You can discover the changes in full length in the Changelog.

  • The RPMod Launcher has been updated with much improved Steam support as well as OpenJK support; a new Account tab lets you login with your RPMod account, and allows you to download community assets (server maps, player skins) from the Updates tab automatically. Partial updates also make downloads faster than ever.

  • Documentation has been updated for Force PowersClient Configuration and Server Configuration.

Installation for Windows:

  • Prerequisites
    • CD version: Jedi Academy patch version 1.01 (download here or here).
    • Steam version: already patched, nothing to do.
  • Installing RPMod
  • Launching the game
    • Always use the RPMod Launcher (in your Start menu or desktop) to launch RPMod, even if you are using Steam or OpenJK.
    • If you are using external launchers, configure them with extra command line parameters: +set fs_game rpmod +set fs_basegame JEDI

Installation for Mac OS X:

  • Prerequisites
    • Intel Mac with Jedi Academy installed from retail discs.
    • Jedi Academy MP patch version 1.01/1.03 Rev E (download here or here).
    • Jedi Academy SP patch version 1.01/1.03 Rev F (download here or here).
  • Installing RPMod
  • Launching the game
    • Launch Jedi Academy as usual. Note that the game may crash when disconnecting from a server.

JEDI and RPMod featured in PC Gamer issue 305

2017-06-09 23:30:00 - By soh

Back in March 2017, games journalist Hannah Dwan approached the JEDI Clan leaders as well as RPMod's creator, Fabien Crespel, to prepare an article for the PC Gamer UK magazine.

The focus: how this community takes what is a relatively old game and a complex lore, and creates something fresh out of it. A few interviews and screenshots later, the article was published in PC Gamer issue 305, June 2017.

RPMod 0.5.0 Client released!

2014-03-02 20:53:10 - By soh

Greetings JEDI and Community,

Almost 4 years after the 0.4.3 release (April 21, 2010), here comes a new (and unexpected?) major release:

RPMod 0.5.0

All JEDI servers have been updated and are already running it, but on your side (Client side), you will need to download and install the RPMod Client.

This Client is not technically needed, but it is more than strongly advised that you download and use it to benefit from improvements, new features, enhanced effects, bug fixes, improved user interface, etc.

Release notes:

  • This is a major version that brings many new features, improvements and bug fixes, which you can discover in full length in the Changelog.

  • The new RPMod Launcher will let you connect easily to RPMod servers and will always keep your PK3 assets up-to-date with those hosted on RPMod Web. Lauching JKA through Steam is also supported.

Please note: the Launcher runs as Administrator and will also run JKA as Administrator; if you are using a minimizer or other tools, you may need to run them as Administrator for proper operation.

  • The old client (0.4.3) is compatible with this version, but won't benefit from new features in this version, so please update as soon as possible.

Installation for Windows:

  • Prerequisites
    • Jedi Academy patch version 1.01 (download here, here or here)
  • Installing RPMod
  • Launching the game
    • Always use the RPMod Launcher (in your Start menu or desktop) to launch RPMod, even if you are using Steam.
    • If you are using external launchers (e.g. Xfire), configure them with extra command line parameters: +set fs_game rpmod +set fs_basegame JEDI

Installation for Mac OS X:

  • Prerequisites
    • Intel Mac with Jedi Academy installed from retail discs.
    • Jedi Academy MP patch version 1.01/1.03 Rev E (download here or here)
    • Jedi Academy SP patch version 1.01/1.03 Rev F (download here or here)
  • Installing RPMod
    • Download the ZIP bundle
    • Extract it in your GameData/rpmod directory (usually under /Applications/Jedi Academy).
    • Extract the RPMod-Client-Mac.pk3 file in the rpmod directory.
    • Move the RPMod-Animations.pk3 file in your base directory.
  • Launching the game
    • Launch Jedi Academy as usual. Note that the game may crash when disconnecting from a server.

New RPMod Web Site

2012-05-20 15:00:00 - By soh

Welcome to the new RPMod web site!

This new interface offers many new features, among which:

  • A completely integrated look with the rest of JEDI services.
  • Servers list and information featuring connected players, available maps and Rcon access for administrators.
  • Character history and XP grant comments to better track the progress of characters.
  • Game Assets management featuring a repository of maps, packs, mods used in JEDI, allowing administrators to upload new ones and deploy assets to servers in one click.
  • Pagination, sorting and filtering of all listings.
  • And much more!

As this is the first public release of it, this web site may still have rough edges that will be fixed in due time; new features will also be introduced progressively.

Additionally, and despite being based on new technology, this service remains compatible with existing RPMod servers in version 0.4.3, and opens the way for more 'connected' features in upcoming RPMod versions.

JEDI members, please let us know what you think of this new site by providing feedback in the relevant forum thread on the Comport.
